    • 1882 4th November NEWSPAPER The Bristol Mercury and Daily Post (Saturday)(Issue 10757)

      Police, Friday ? Moses Scarrott, Matilda Scarrott, and Chas. Loveridge were charged with stealing twelve fowls, value 30s from Violet Bank, Macaulay?s-buildings, the property of George Oxenham. The birds were stolen from the fowl-house of the psecutor on Wednesday night and the next day Supt. Berry found eight of them in a basket in possession of the female prisoner in Avon-street, and the others not far off. The prisoners were remanded until Tuesday.

      City Police, Yesterday, - Moses Scarrott of Avon-street, and Charles Loveridge, of Little Corn-street, were charged on remand with stealing twelve fowls, from Macaulay-buildings, the property of George Oxenham, and Matilda Scarrott, of Avon-strt, was charged with receiving the same knowing them to have been stolen. Each prisoner pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to three months? hard labour.

      Matilda was in prison for the above offence when she gave birth to Albert.
